Promotional domain names

Often we work with clients to promote new services, seminars, events or launches as part of their marketing strategy.  If we are developing a campaign-specific strategy it may be that we will purchase promotional domain names to create a more memorable hook in the prospects mind.

For example if we decided to run a series of planning workshops from Elite Edge Marketing Consultants Ltd (www. elite-edge.co.uk) our domain name wouldn’t automatically make people aware of what we are offering.  So we could buy (for example) www.marketingplanningworkshops.co.uk and use this domain on all of our literature to promote the workshops and subsequent spin-off materials.  We would not necessarily have a website hosted at www.marketingplanningworkshops.co.uk (although we could if we wanted to) we would simply put a redirect in place so that when people type this promotional domain into search it redirects them to the relevant page on our own webiste.

Sometimes we will keep the promotional domain landing page hidden on primary site navigation so it is only accessible via the promotional domain link – this allows us to monitor which PR / direct mail activity has been successful and also lets us see who has linked into the page.

There are of course many other uses for promotional domains and if you would like to discuss this further please get in touch.

About Marie

I started Elite Edge at the end of 1999 and I am still as passionate about marketing today as I was then - probably more so because I consider myself very lucky to do a job that I love every day! My area of specialism is strategic planning but like most people these days, I wear many other hats too!
